WELCOME OUR NEW CANYON FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER; LEXI BASSET!

Hello Forest Highlands members! My name is Lexi Bassett, and I am thrilled to be joining the team this season as the new Food and Beverage Manager at the Canyon Clubhouse! A little bit about me and my journey: I was born and raised in Peoria, Arizona and spent most of my childhood and teen years riding dirt bikes in the dunes or taking part in various sports such as cheer, dance, and gymnastics. (No, I can’t do a backflip anymore). After juggling school and sports for a better part of my youth I decided to hang up my ballet shoes and start working. I first dipped my toes into the hospitality industry at 17, starting as a hostess at Scorpion Bay Bar and Grill on Lake Pleasant. There, I got my first taste of the food and beverage world and quickly learned the ropes of customer service. Right before my senior year of high school I transitioned to Arrowhead Harley Davidson, working in the motor-clothes department. I had such an amazing experience working there and it was truly a pivotal point in helping me grow out of my shell and the people there taught me how to have a backbone. After a year of accessorizing bikers and bike-enthusiasts it was time for me to head up to Flagstaff to pursue a degree in Business Management with a minor in Business Law. Once the school year took off, I realized my passion for hospitality persisted, leading me to Arizona Snowbowl for their 2020-2021 season. At Snowbowl, I started in an entry level position and steadily climbed the ladder, eventually becoming Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in October 2022. Seeking diversity, I spent my summers at Pine Canyon Golf Course as a server and bartender. This is when I fell in love with the club environment and started to think about a long-term career in hospitality. After graduating in May 2023, my boyfriend Tim and I ventured to the East Coast where I took on the role of Food and Beverage Manager at Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont. However, the icy winters made us yearn for the warmth of Arizona, leading us back to Flagstaff this past March. I do miss the maple syrup in Vermont if you were wondering.
