HIKING CLUB If you haven’t had a chance to get out and enjoy the trails with our hiking club yet, there is still time! September is a great month to enjoy the cooler weather and possibly even see some leaves changing color at higher elevations. See below for descriptions of the hikes we have planned this month.

SEPTEMBER 11 Hike the Arizona Trail from Aspen Corner to F.S. Rd 418.

SEPTEMBER 25 Red Mountain with Molly. An easy but beautiful trail near Parks, AZ.
Aspen Corner is on the Arizona Snow Bowl Rd. approx 1 miles South of the ski area. We will have stationed a vehicle at the terminus of the hike earlier that day, for the return shuttle back to Aspen Corner. This hike is 7.2 miles on what is undoubtedly the prettiest section of the entire AZ Trail! Gently rolling terrain across the Western flank of the San Francisco Peaks. Spectacular views throughout!! Meet in front of the Family Recreation Center at 8:30 A.M. This hike is led by a Forest Highlands member, so there is no FH shuttle available but carpooling is an option. Bring at least 2 liters of water, snacks, (and rain-gear if the monsoons are still around).

Approximately 3 miles out and back, with some breathtaking views and some cool cliffs and hoodoos at the end. Sign up online for either the shuttle or personal vehicle option and meet in front of the Family Recreation Center at 8:45am.
