and pickleball functions. New parking and access would be behind the building. All visitors for either real estate or pickleball would pass through security. We would be careful to add landscaping and facility enhancements to make sure our entrance remains visually appealing. We will engage a sound abatement professional to help minimize any noise from the facility. Please access the site plan here as well as the pickleball flyer information page here to answer questions concerning this important project. And below are some important points to consider before you vote: *To be successful, the Club CC&R’s require 2/3 YES vote from the membership to change the plat. So a member who doesn’t care or just doesn’t vote equals a no vote. Talk to your fellow members and encourage them to spread the word! *As a result of our long process, it’s clear that this site offers the fastest and least expensive path to a dedicated pickleball facility. If this vote fails, we’ll have to regroup and look to one of the other options which will possibly take years longer and definitely cost significantly more money. Beware if you hear otherwise from members who haven’t been involved in the process! *Pickleball is the fastest growing amenity added at clubs around the country. Pine Canyon and Flagstaff Ranch currently have dedicated pickle ball courts.
What an exciting time of year to be a member of Forest Highlands! I don’t know about you, but in my 22 years as a member I can’t think of many reasons to be more thrilled than the prospect of another season at our special place in the pines. As always, the Leadership Team is ready to go with tried and true offerings in their various departments, as well as exciting new ones. Bill Abbey and his team are working overtime to get the courses in shape, and as usual there are some areas requiring some patience. We’ll have a temporary green for a while on Canyon 9, and some other holes have a few minor challenges as well. In Food and Beverage, don’t forget that our menu pricing includes gratuity. If you’re comparing value verses restaurants in town, this factor is important to consider!
Here’s hoping for nice weather in May so we can kick off the season in style!
In addition to kicking off the season, May is extremely important to the Club for another reason. This is the month the membership has the opportunity to VOTE YES to the plat change amendment at the sales office to allow pickleball. As many of you know, the Club has been working on a solution for our pickleball deficiency for years. As the result of an exhaustive process, the Board has unanimously approved moving forward with the recommendation to build a dedicated pickleball facility where the parking currently is for the sales office. The building would remain and be dual purposed for both real estate office functions
