Forest Highlands 2025-2026 Guidebook

FOREST HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY FIRE SAFETY

OUR COMMITMENT TO FIRE SAFETY Forest Highlands has been a nationally recognized Firewise community for over 20 years, one of only three in Arizona to achieve this distinction. Fire safety is a top priority, and through tree thinning, fuel removal, and controlled burns, we have significantly reduced wildfire risks. One major accomplishment was our selection for the Firewise "Sites of Excellence" program (2019-2021), a national initiative that strengthened fire safety measures in our most vulnerable areas. This success was made possible by the collaboration of our Firewise Committee, Highlands Fire District, Bear Jaw Wildfire Crew, and community members.

HOW YOU CAN HELP To maintain a fire-resilient community, members are encouraged to take proactive steps, including: • Removing dead trees, dried grass, and debris • Clearing roofs, gutters, and maintaining defensible space • Storing firewood 30 feet uphill from structures • Thinning dense tree stands and removing fuel ladders

Annual Firewise Property Assessments are conducted on a rotating five-year cycle. However, homeowners are encouraged to complete fire mitigation work annually before fire season. To schedule a property evaluation, contact Forest Highlands Security at 928-525-9090. The Concierge Department (928-525-9792) can also assist with Firewise compliance.
