T he second leg of our South Africa member journey takes place at renowned Fancourt Estate, where avid golfers have the opportunity to play 3 courses ranked in the country’s top 20. Sculpted into what Gary Player has described as his greatest feat as a course designer, The Links is the golfing hallmark of the Fancourt Estate and ranked #1 in the country. Featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape, the course is the collaborative handiwork of golfing icon, Gary Player, course designer, Phil Jacobs and its owner, Dr Hasso Plattner. The Links has hosted many of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, including the Presidents Cup, the South African Open and the Volvo Golf Champions European Tour.
Fancourt’s Montagu Golf Course has earned a world class reputation as one of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts. It holds the prestigious 8th position on South Africa’s Top 100 Courses’ list. This tree-lined course covers large tracts of varying terrain across an undulating indigenous landscape. At number 18, Fancourt’s Outeniqua golf course, named after the mountain range that forms its breath-taking backdrop, presents an 18-hole parkland layout that is tailored to provide a laid-back golfing experience with a fair share of challenges and water hazards on as many as 11 of its holes.
