ALARM RULE All Forest Highlands homes are to have alarms that communicate with Forest Highlands Security. Home alarms must be programmed to: • Detect fire/smoke • Do automatic daily (24-hour) testing with the Gatehouse

The noted requirements are for the safety of the homes and Community. The importance of “Daily Testing” provides a means for the alarm monitoring center to be notified if a home alarm does not send an automatic daily test signal. When a home alarm does not send the automatic test, the Gatehouse staff is notified by way of a “DID NOT REPORT” message. Once the notification is received, Security staff will contact the respective Member(s) to report the non-communicating alarm and assist with having the alarm system communicate properly. The action needed can range from rebooting the alarm panel/alarm communicator to needing an alarm company service call.
UPDATE
Below details continued positive progress with alarm compliance starting in October/2019 to the present. As noted in previous updates, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandatory local phone dialing requiring 10-digits had a significant impact on alarm panels. The Membership continues to be responsive to having alarm panels reprogrammed to dial 10 digits. At the time this article was prepared, out of 276 homes impacted by the FCC mandate, only 22 Members had not arranged for their panel to be programmed to dial 10-digits. Thank you to all that took action. The Security Department will continue to work with the home owners needing to address the situation; the owners of the 28 homes that have non-compliant alarm panels have been contacted.
