PUBLIC WORKS

Home Trash/Recycling Services Waste Management is our trash/recycling service provider. Residential trash pick-up occurs every Monday and trash cans need to be out before 6am on pick-up days. Recycling pick-up occurs every other Monday and recycling cans need to be out before 6am on pick-up days as well. If recycling cans are put out on non-recycling days Waste Management will not pick up the recycling. The recycling dates are listed for the current month as well as the following month on the bottom of every member’s utility bill. If a member has any questions regarding trash/recycling they can call the utility office at (928)-525-5244. Please also ensure when placing cans out for pickup to put it off the road and away from the lane of traffic. Walkers, bikers, dog walkers and vehicles thank you for your help with maintaining safe lanes of travel for all. In addition, cans should not be placed at the street before Sunday evening.

Please note the brand-new Hazardous Waste Collection event scheduled for Labor Day Weekend: Saturday, September 3 from 9AM – 3PM Behind the fire station. This event is for Members only and Forest Highlands household waste only. Contractors are prohibited from using the community dumpsters at any time. If homes are undergoing construction, it is the responsibility of the homeowner and contractor to manage and remove all construction waste. Violators of this policy are subject to referral to the Board and potential fines. Pine Needle Pick-Up Bagged pine needles are picked up every Tuesday during the regular season (May 1st – October 31st). On the rare occasion that there are too many bags to be picked up on Tuesday’s, Waste management will return the following day to collect the rest. During the off-season (November 1st – April 30th) pine needle bags are picked up on only the first Tuesday of every month. Pine needles need to be bagged up and put out by the street as near as possible to the homeowner’s address post so Waste Management can be sure the correct address is getting charged for the pick-up.

If the member is still in the process of bagging or the bags are not by the side of the road Waste Management will skip it and come back to it the following week. The charge per bag is $3.75, and the total charge per pick-up shows up as a line item on the member’s monthly account statement. If a member has bags sitting by the edge of the road on a Tuesday, Waste Management will pick it up and the member will be charged, so if you don’t want to be charged don’t leave bags by the road.
