LEADERSHIP
Mike Cahill, Board President Patty Ashbrook, General Manager / COO The smell of wet grass and pine trees following a monsoon rain, the sound of kids laughter playing at Lawn Games, the taste of BBQ ribs from Smokey in the Pines…these are some of the things I have enjoyed so far this summer! It is hard to believe August has already arrived and we have officially hit the midway point of our summer season. June and July have been some of the busiest months in Forest Highlands’ history. While rounds of golf have returned to pre-pandemic levels, dining usage is up from last year, attendance at our special events and tournaments are at or above record numbers, and usage of tennis, concierge, and recreation programs is at an all-time high. All in all, 2022 is shaping up to be one of the most active summers we have ever experienced. As many of our families prepare to return to the valley for the beginning of another school year, we want to thank you for participating in our programs and we’ll look forward to seeing you on the weekends! August has many great events and activities so be sure to check out this issue for important details. As we head into August we begin to look forward already to next year. Forest Highlands’ fiscal year is the calendar year ending December 31, so we will now begin working on the projections for the end of 2022 to see how closely our budget matched up with actual results and use that information to start our 2023 budget preparations and planning. We will provide an update on our strong financial position for both the operations and our Capital and Reserve funds at the upcoming Member Town Hall on Saturday, September 3. The Town Hall is also your opportunity to meet the candidates running for the 4 open positions on the Board of Directors. Attendance is encouraged or you can view a recording of the meeting afterward as we will not have a livestream option. If you are interested in running for the Board, please be sure to sign up for the next Candidate Orientation session on Saturday, August 13. All candidates are required to attend an orientation session to be on the ballot.
We have recently lifted the mandatory staff mask policy now that we have the majority of our staff healthy again but it is important to note that we continue to be aware of positive Covid cases within the membership as well as staff. We will be monitoring the health of our staff and will make decisions as required to ensure we can continue to provide services with minimal disruption as we head into the second half of the summer. I want to take this opportunity to highlight some of our amazing staff! Whenever an employee goes above and beyond by displaying exemplary performance or has made a significant contribution to their team in providing the “Forest Highlands Experience,” their co-workers have an opportunity to nominate them for our Employee of the Month award. There were 3 employees who received the Employee of the Month for May and two for June. July Employees of the Month will be nominated this week. When you see these employees, please be sure to give them well-deserved congratulations and thank them for their exemplary efforts!
