Zone Three Firewise 2nd Inspection Safety Checks have been completed and a huge Thank You to all members who have completed their cleanups. Effected members who have not completed cleanups were notified via email about work still needing to be completed on 13th, 2023. If work is not completed before bids are secured the amount to have work completed will be assessed on monthly member statements in accordance with the Firewise Rule adopted on May 23rd, 2005, by the Board of Directors. • Firewise Safety checks for Zone 4 are set to begin in June 2024 and Lots 1-11 and 31-219 will have safety checks completed next season. Below are a few items that can be completed now to save time next year: • Remove pine needles from roofs and gutters (may also help reduce possibility of ice dams during winter months) • Limb dead branches on trees when dormant to avoid falling branches on houses during winter months (may also help reduce sap accumulation on porches and decks) • Remove tall, dried grasses/flowers from property and get a jump start on HOA rule 2.30 Maintenance of Lots and Homes

At the June 9, 2023 meeting of the Firewise Committee, Highlands Fire Chief Todd Miller briefed the Committee on the new Coconino County Evacuation Zones. To further enhance emergency messaging to the public, the evacuation zones focus on neighborhoods, communities, and residential areas throughout the county. Using pre- identified zones, this project builds on the existing Ready, Set, Go Program and was developed with area partners to enhance pre-evacuations and evacuation messaging. This is a joint partnership with the U.S Forest Service, local fire districts, and the County GIS department. Every effort has been made to make these evacuation zones available to the public. An interactive map can be found at www.coconino. az.gov/evacmap and includes downloadable maps) for each zone along with a QR code.
