Flagstaff, Arizona September 11-19

Dear Volunteer -

On behalf of the 2019 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship it is a pleasure to welcome you to Forest Highlands Golf Club for this exciting event. Forest Highlands has embraced the honor of amateur golf by hosting multiple prestigious events during its thirty-two year history. Previous championships include the 1991 Pacific Coast Amateur, the Arizona State Amateur Championship in 1993, 2004 and 2018, the 1996 U.S. Junior Amateur, the 2006 U.S. Mid-Amateur and the 2014 U.S. Girl’s Junior Amateur. We wish to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for giving us your valuable time and dedication to our Championship. The success of the U.S. Women’s Mid- Amateur Championship would not be possible without the commitment of the volunteers required to conduct this event. This Championship Volunteer Handbook is designed to assist you in performing your important duties throughout the week. It contains valuable information including the schedule of events, parking, safety tips, volunteer check-in, meal times and etiquette, and much more. We ask that you read the contents and refer to the information as necessary. As a volunteer, you may be asked many questions so it is our hope that this handbook will provide you with the tools to respond with accurate information. Thank you again for your generous commitment to make this the best U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship to date. We are very proud of our Forest Highlands’ community and thanks to your generous donation of time and energy you make Flagstaff the very special place that we are proud to call home.

Sincerely,

Patricia Ashbrook, CCM, MBA General Manager/COO

Safety Information One of our top priorities at the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship is the safety of our spectators, players and volunteers. As a volunteer you are instrumental in keeping the Championship safe and enjoyable for everyone. As you perform your assigned duties, we would like you to be aware of the conditions around you. Most injuries are related to slips, trips and falls on or around the course, as well as being struck by a golf ball or golf cart. If you see something that does not seem right to you and you think it could lead to an accident, please report it to your supervisor, security or Championship personnel immediately. We will do our best to correct any hazards as soon as possible. Safety Tips Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration • Familiarize yourself with First Aid location • Use suntan lotion or sun block • Wear a hat Most volunteers will work outside with exposure to heat, cold, sun, wind and rain. Be prepared for any of these conditions. Layers of clothing work best because you can put them on and take them off when necessary. When you bring jackets and sweaters, please choose colors that compliment your uniform. Advance planning makes your day more comfortable and enjoyable. Security (928) 525-9090 Security personnel will be on duty around the clock prior to and during the Championship. If you have a problem or need security for any reason, please contact the nearest marshal or call the security phone number listed above. Spectator Tips Here are a few suggestions that will assist you and allow the player and spectators to have the most enjoyable Championship week possible. • Please do not ask for autographs during the competitive rounds. • Please stay behind the gallery ropes during Match Play and cooperate with the marshals. • Please remain quiet throughout each shot and do not move until all players in the group have played or holed out.

• Please walk carefully. NEVER run. • Please display your badge prominently. • Please dispose of trash properly.
