overall. The Canyon Dining room will keep normal hours of operation through September but will stop serving dinner after October 8th. Lunch will remain available. The grill at Stonehouse shuts down after labor day. ● 2023 Capital Projects- Managers of different departments have been informed to report on what items in their areas need updating/replacing so action can be taken to improve the club. An audio-visual project at the Meadow has been proposed to improve systems at the Meadow’s pool, fitness center, and rec center. The local company making these improvements proposed an $88,000 budget to make the changes. The kitchens reported issues with coolers not coming to temp, proposing replacements of these coolers as well as replacement of steamers which have been used for quite a while and reached their age limit. It was suggested during the meeting that quick chillers be purchased for those who hold white wines in their wine lockers at the Canyon clubhouse. The wine lockers themselves are chilled but not to the extent that white wines are meant to be chilled, limiting the usage of wine lockers to reds. The purchase of quick chillers will expand the benefits of owning a wine locker. ● The Taste of Forest Highlands- The Taste of Forest Highlands brought in a gross profit of $96,864. After variable expenses, a loss of $7,400 was incurred. When the next Taste comes around, a more strategic discussion on what to include and not include in the event must be had. It was suggested during the meeting to raise the price of admission, as committee members say many were willing to spend more to attend. Overall, the Taste was called a breakeven event. ● Independence Day BBQ- The Independence Day BBQ brought in a gross profit of $63,027. After variable expenses of which 13,000 was attributed to recreation expenses, a profit of $14,600 was recorded. It was said that this should also remain a breakeven event. ● Upcoming events-
○ Wine tasting event - August 19th ○ Justin Wine Dinner - August 24th ○ Labor Day BBQ - September 3rd
● Labor Day BBQ changes- Tent seating at the Labor Day BBQ will no longer be first-come-first-serve. Instead, we are selling tent seating for $100 per 10-top before the event, and on the day of the event, individual seats not yet sold will be sold for $10 per seat. The reasoning for this is not to provide us an extra source of revenue, instead it is a way to control chaos. Another change is to our source of entertainment for this event. We have recruited an Eagles tribute band to celebrate the 35 year anniversary of Forest Highlands and have added theater style seating and lawn seating in front of the band to diversify seating options and create a concert-like atmosphere. The schedule of the BBQ changes a bit because of the band as well. They will perform from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, take a break until 7pm then perform again until 8pm.
