FIREWISE HOMEOWNER ZONE MAP
FIREWISE UPDATE & SUGGESTIONS TO HELP KEEP A SAFE COMMUNITY
In 2023 the assigned Firewise zone for Forest Highlands is Zone 3 (made up of lots: 12-30, 425-442, & 516-649). Firewise Safety Checks of the noted lots will be conducted in early June. To help those in Zone 3 and everyone in Forest Highlands, please click here to find the “Safety Check” form used by Firewise Officers. All Forest Highlands residents are encouraged to make/keep their lot(s) safe. Below are a few suggestions in maintaining a Firewise Defensible Space on your lot(s): • Remove dead fuels from your property • Remove dead standing trees and logs from the ground less than 16” in diameter • Remove dead shrubby materials • Cut down dried grasses and flowers • Remove needles, leaves and branches from the ground, leaving an organic covering of approximately 1” • Clear needles and leaves from roofs and gutters • Store firewood at least 30’ (if possible; minimum of 10’) up-hill from your home
TRAFFIC RULES ENFORCMENT
Although most traffic rules are followed while operating vehicles, there are violations that jeopardize overall safety in Forest Highlands. Examples of a few violations causing concern are speeding and not stopping at stop signs. In 2022, radar cameras were found to be successful in changing unsafe driving habits in areas with significant speeding violations. Most of the unsafe speeds happen on downhill roadways; please help do your part to make roads safe by maintaining safe speeds when driving downhill. Also, it is important to remind visitors to do the same.
DWELLINGLIVE E-PASS: HELPS GET YOUR GUESTS PROCESSED WITH SECURITY
Below is an example of an e-pass that is helpful for your guests and the Security gate attendant. For those placing guests on your dwellingLIVE guest list, there is an option to send an e-pass. The pass can be sent via email, text, or both. The person simply shows the pass with QR code to the gate attendant and once scanned the entry is recorded. The pass remains valid throughout the date range entered by the Member authorizing access to Forest Highlands.
The Security Department and the Security Committee will continue
to research and implement ideas to make roads safe in Forest Highlands.
The process is straightforward. The next time you are putting someone on your list, click on the “Email This Pass” or “Text This Pass” buttons and enter the email address or cell phone in the respective fields. Utilize both and your guests will appreciate how convenient you make their arrival/processing through security. Also, the pass reminds visitors about speed limit enforcement.
