SPECIALTY TREATMENTS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY (MFR) – Myofascial release/ massage focuses on reducing pain by easing tension and tightness in the trigger points. During myofascial release therapy, the therapist uses light manual pressure to locate areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable. The therapist then aids the tissue and supportive sheath in releasing pressure and tightness. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy loosen up restricted movement, leading to reduced pain. CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE (CTM) – Connective Tissue Therapy is a “deep” form of massage, sometimes called Deep Tissue Therapy, or Connective Tissue Massage. It targets the fascia (connective tissue) in the body in order to relax chronically tight muscles, improve range of motion, soften scar tissue, and improve posture by improving the length, strength, and overall condition of the fascia. INJURY REHAB – Massage plays an important role as a supplement to standard injury rehabilitation procedures. By encouraging circulatory movement and relaxing the muscles, massage helps the body pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. T his allows the injured area(s) to become more flexible and heal at an accelerated rate. CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY – Craniosacral Therapy can be used to treat a vast array of pain and discomfort. It works by normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord, which enhances the body's natural ability to heal and self-correct. This technique is a gentle, non-invasive form of massage that addresses the bones and muscles of the head, spinal column, and sacrum. HOT STONE MASSAGE – Hot stones work to reduce tension within your muscles, causing increased blood flow to the areas where stones are placed. The direct heat of the stones relaxes the muscles, allowing the therapist to access deeper muscle layers during the massage. The spa treatment rooms can be found downstairs in the Meadow Clubhouse, off the locker rooms. If you have booked a treatment, your therapist will meet you in the waiting area located in the hallway between the locker rooms and the fitness classroom.
