Stay on Designated Paths if Possible Stick to marked trails and paths to reduce the risk of encountering hidden hazards. Wear Sturdy Footwear Proper footwear can protect you from sharp objects on the ground. Carry Basic First Aid Pack a small first aid kit to address minor injuries promptly. Be Mindful of Your Surroundings Keep an eye out for any debris or unusual objects on the ground and report any potential hazards to forest authorities. Inform Someone Let a friend or family member know your plans and estimated return time when venturing into the forest. Unfortunately, there are hidden dangers in the forest that are out of our control. Your safety is of utmost importance when exploring our beautiful national forest. We recently had an incident involving a member who encountered hidden old, barbed wire just outside the Forest Highlands property. To ensure your well-being, please take the following precautions:

SECURITY DEPARTMENT STATISTICS Each month Security Department staff receive, respond, and answer a wide variety of phone calls, reports, incidents, alarms activations, and medical emergencies while providing around-the-clock availability/ assistance to anyone working, living, or visiting Forest Highlands. Below is a snapshot for the month of August 2023 on a few items the Security Department responded to: • Burglary/Fire/Gas/Low Temperature/Flood/ Trouble/AC Power Failure alarms: 77

• Phone calls in/out of the Gatehouse: 3074 • Recorded entries by Gatehouse Staff entering community through attendant lane: 9273 • Guests added by Security Staff: 1756

Weekly House Watch visits include:

• Check security of doors, windows, and locks • Check water heater for correct temperature setting • Check on or off status of water • Check house temperature and heat setting • Check for water leaks or storm damage • Check alarm transmission ability • Exterior perimeter check of structure • Perform reasonable special instructions • Notify the homeowner of any discrepancies
