LEADERSHIP
Mike Cahill, Board President Patty Ashbrook, General Manager / COO
The Winter Season at Forest Highlands is in full swing and we have activities to take advantage of the fun (Recreation pages), keep you fit and active (Fitness Schedule), keep you warm & toasty (Dining pages), and make your visit to the High Country both relaxing and stress-free (Concierge page). If you have not been up to the Club since our most recent snowfall, allow me to share some photos of the spectacular snowy wonderland we have been enjoying the past few weeks. Snowfall totals through January 24 rank as the 3rd snowiest January on record at 60.4 inches. The Security team would like to encourage any homeowner who is not on our weekly House Watch program to be sure to check on your home. House Watch personnel are finding many instances of leaks resulting from ice dams on roofs. If undiscovered, these can lead to significant damage and the potential for mold. Information on our House Watch program can be found on page 23 or call the Gatehouse at 928-525-9090. Throughout the winter months the Leadership Team and Staff brainstorm activities, programs and special events for your Summer Season Calendar of Events. We have included a sneak peak of those events on the Calendar at a Glance on pages 10 & 11 so you can begin making your summer plans. The online calendar on the member website is currently being updated with all of the activities and programs for 2023. Along with the calendar, the Association Rules are being reviewed for updates and modifications. All Rule changes will be approved by the Board at their March 27 meeting and will be communicated in the April 1 Voice. At the recent January 23rd Board meeting officers for the Association and the Water & Wastewater utility companies were elected and Committee Chairs were appointed. Association Officers for 2023 are President Dirck Iacobelli, Vice President Dave Stearns, Treasurer Larry Aldrich and Secretary Marian Paoletti. The Officers of the utility companies are President Dave Stearns, Vice President Dirck Iacobelli, Treasurer Sara Rhodes and Secretary Marian Paoletti. The list of Committee Chairs is

located on page 4 . Each of the Standing Committees will be in need of volunteers for the 2023 Season. The role of Committees is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board, GM and Leadership Team by researching issues, providing critical member input and offering suggestions as well as supporting Club functions, events and activities. The 2023 Committee Volunteer form can be downloaded here . Committee membership will be formulated during February and March and will be ratified at the March 27 Board meeting.
The Special Member Meeting held on January 23 to discuss and answer member questions on the Pickleball Facility was attended by approximately 400 individuals in person and on Zoom. The Board and Management appreciate all those who attended and expressed constructive feedback and suggestions on the current project, process and procedures. The slideshow and recording of the meeting are available on the member website. The minutes of the most recent Board meeting as well as prior Board meeting minutes are also available on the member website. Click the links here.

A kind word is like a spring day… And there is nothing like a spring day after a long winter. It brings such joy and wonder. A kind word can do the same. Spread kindness and joy today!
Board Meeting Minutes
In addition to the update provided at the Member Meeting on the Pickleball Facility, other capital projects continue to progress around the Club. The record setting snowfall has provided some challenges for our construction projects, however the Utility Operations Office is expected to be complete by March 15, the expansion of the Meadow Patio is scheduled for completion by April 18, and the reconstruction and enhancement of the restroom at the Covered Bridge Park is expected to be complete by May 31. All completion dates are subject to change based on future weather impacts. We will ensure restroom facilities are available at Canyon Hole #14 and the park in time for Opening Day on April 28. I look forward to seeing many of you over the next couple of months as you enjoy our winter wonderland and to reconnect with those who prefer to avoid the snow and cold once the weather warms up!

CLUB NEWS
FOREST HIGHLANDS LEGACY SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
Do you have a family member who loves Forest Highlands as much as you do? Perhaps your brother-in-law or parent is an avid golfer, but they don’t want to purchase property? Immediate Family members have an opportunity to become a member at a reduced cost under the Special Membership category as a Legacy Special Member.
Legacy Special Memberships are available for purchase by the immediate family of existing Forest Highlands’ members in good standing with the Club. Immediate family is defined in the Association Rules as parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, parents-in-law and siblings-in-law. This is a great way to continue the membership privileges for your children who are now over the age of 25. They can become full-privilege members and you no longer have to pay for their guest fees! The cost for a Legacy Special Membership will be increasing from the current $15,000 to $25,000 effective March 1, 2023.
Legacy Special Members are subject to the same rights and obligations as Special Members of the Association as set forth in the Amendment to and Restatement of Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Forest Highlands, as amended from time to time (the “Declaration”), the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Rules and Regulations of the Association. Legacy Special Members are responsible for paying all Regular, Reconstruction, Capital Improvement and Special Assessments. The monthly dues rate for a Legacy membership is the same as the Regular membership at $1,250 per month for 2023.
Legacy Special Memberships are also available for purchase by former Forest Highlands’ members who either sold their property or resigned their membership within the previous six months. Former Forest Highlands members are eligible to purchase at the Legacy rate as long as they would qualify under the same conditions as for an Exemption from the New Owner Capital Contribution Fee.
Anyone interested in purchasing a Legacy Special Membership must fill out and submit the Special Membership Purchase Agreement and Special Membership Application Form. These forms can be obtained by contacting the Administration Office at 928-525¬9014 or by email at membership@fhgc.com .
The cost for a standard Special Membership (available to non-family members) is $100,000 effective January 1, 2023.

ICE DAMS The Security Team has noticed past and current weather conditions (snow, rain, warmer temperatures, and then a return to freezing temps) have caused ice dams primarily on roof edges facing north. Most Members are aware of ice dams and take action to prevent damage to the interior of their home. Some preventive measures is utilization of heat tape and snow removal from roofs. If you are not on the House Watch program offered by Security, all Members are encouraged to do one of the following: make a visit to your home or have someone visit your home such as a family member, a neighbor, a handyman, or a contractor familiar with your home.

To help keep a clean community and avoid a fine due to a trash cleanup, it is important to avoid overfilling your trashcan. A trashcan with a propped open lid can result in litter being spread through the community due to animals and wind.
